i bought a mondeo tdci in February ive never had a diesel before. It seems to be getting really noisy, it starts every morning no bother,. When it warms up and i stop and resart it starts but not proper its chugging then i restart it again then its ok apart from being noisy. did have a full service at easter. Anybody got any ideas ? took it on motorway last week its still got a lot of power

  1. those engines arnt the quietest of diesels.....try a new fuel filter that should stop the power loss...the noise is the diesel ignighting under high compresion..its possable the pump timming might be out slightly.

  2. the injectors give trouble on these cars, they each have their own identity which they sometimes forget and need to be reset/replaced.

needs a ford dealer or independant with correct computer equipment to do it.

  3. If you are used to a petrol car all diesels will sound noisy doesn't mean anything is wrong with it. If there are any problems it will let you know by putting the engine management light on.

  4. Old engine oil makes diesels noisy cos of fuel contamination,I'd say change at 6K miles max.

  5. i would reccomend a full service ie change oil and oil filter, air filter and fuel filter if you still have no luck ur bottom end of the engine bearings could be worn out take sump out and put new shell bearings in
