Noisy Fridge! Help please. My refrigerator makes a terrible banging noise whenever the compressor

Help please. My refrigerator makes a terrible banging noise whenever the compressor shuts off. It wakes me up. It sounds like the expansion tank is rattling around? My landlord says it can't be fixed. Any better opinions? Thanks! GE Fridge about 11 years old. Load banging noise upon shut down. Cleaned the coils and all with compressed air. Could it be worn grommets on the compressor?
