Noisy Sky HD Box? My brand new Sky HD box is very noisy at all times, even in standby mode.?

New Sky HD Box arrived yesterday and before calling an engineer to have a look hoping someone could help me resolve the problem quickly and painlessly!

The box makes a whirring noise at all times, even in standby mode. The box is especially noisy when recording/watching shows. As well as a loud whirring sound (most likely the hard drive I know) the box makes what can best be described as a clicking or ticking sound which can actually be heard from another room!

I realise - having an HDD recorder - some noise is expected but surely Sky HD boxes are not normally this noisy, as programme watching is really quite annoying with all this background noise.

I`m on my second Sky HD box,first one was just like yours,second has a small whine but i was told by the guy who brought me a 2nd new one,that all of Thompson boxes do this.

Daughter on her third box in less than two weeks,third same small whine as mine.Ring them up or better still ring guy up who first brought it,make sure they don't bring you an exchange one in a plane brown cardboard box,these reconditioned ones and you did not pay for a reconditioned one.Ring customer services up if you cannot get hold of bloke who put it in,NOW.
