Question:

Nokia 6500 Slide. Won't access my memory card. Any ideas?

Hi there :)

I had to take my Sim card out to register with MyThree (UK), up until then it read my memory card (which I never removed). When I put the Sim back in, my phone is not reading the memory card, and no picture of it up in the right hand corner of the display. However, when I check the settings, both phone memory and memory card show up the usage. Has anyone else had a problem with the 6500 slide not accessing the memory card? Means I cannot access all my music, photos etc from the memory card any more...........only check it's usage in the settings panel. Only had it about a month, I didn't take out insurance (too expensive), but will this affect the actual warranty? I'm monthly.....not pay-as-you-go, and got the phone from Phones-4-You.

Any help would be great here. Thanks :)

  1. its most likely a software issue with the 6500 - it has heaps of them. there was one major one where if, for example, you had a wallpaper set and the picture was saved on the memory card, and u accidentally hit the button that releases the back cover, then the phone would remove the wallpaper and reset it to normal. this may be something similar. i would take the phone apart (remove batt, sim and mem card) and put it all back together. if this dosnt help, then put ur mem card in another phone and see if it works, if yes, then you will need to upgrade the software. you can go to www.nokia.com.au, click the 'get support and software' tab, follow the links and, when prompted, connect your phone to the computer using USB cable and update the software. im pretty sure there was a software released for 3 phones. thats what the nokia rep told me today anyways :P

but yeah its most likely faulty software. nokias are also very sensative to corrupt files. for example if you try to play a corrupt song, it can harm the software.

    good luck :)
