Nokia pc suite question?

ok this might seem really silly.. but how do i unplug my phone after i'm done using pc-suite. I use a ca42 usb cable to connect my phone. After i transfer all the files i need, i exit pc-suite. But when I click that icon in the taskbar("safely remove hardware"), it says, "cannot remove device as it is being accessed by an application". I dont know which application it is, as pc-suite is closed and no other app needs the phone. Is there a way within pc-suite to remove the phone without exiting or what is the right way to do it?

  1. Having the PC Suite running as minimized is ok, that is not causing you problems.

If you phone is connected in "Mass storage" mode then you should close the Windows Explorer or any other application that is using that new removable drive. Then use the "safely remove hardware" utility to force windows send all the cached data to the drive an release it completely. Then, when all ok eject the cable.

If the phone is connected in PC Suite mode then you have no reason to call that utility. Make sure that you close Windows Explorer if you use the File Manager extension from PC Suite (otherwise Windows Explorer might hang) but ignore the PC Suite application as such and simply eject the cable, without the "safely remove hardware" stuff which really has nothing to do.

  2. There may be many reasons,

1 Be sure that your phone memory or memory card doesn't have any virus.

2 Be sure that windows media player is closed, this application connects each hard disk that are online with pc.

3 See that which software you are using eg; windows XP, vista.

4 You also check your Nokia PC suite with another phone.

If the other phones work right u just format both the memories, and if other phones also creat the same problem then you just reinstall your pc suite.

  3. Try disconnecting the phone through pc suite before you exit it because chances are when clicking the x at the top you are just minimizing pc suite to the system tray and the phone is still connected to it.
