Nolan Reimold’s homer helps Baltimore Orioles defeat Chicago White Sox 6-4 - MLB Update
Baltimore Orioles’ designated hitter, Nolan Reimold had a remarkable day with the bat as he hit a solo walk-off homer including two RBIs and went 1-for-5 in the Orioles’ 6-4 win against the Chicago White Sox at Orioles Park, Baltimore on August 10.
Orioles got off to a quick start as they smashed their initial run in first inning to get a 1-0 lead. J.J. Hardy hit a one-run homer (394 feet) towards left-field to give the Orioles a primary lead. During second inning, Orioles’ batters blasted two couple
of runs to raise their lead 3-0. Robert Andino singled off shallow centre-field and Chris Davis posted one run. The second run was taken by Andino when Nick Markakis bunted a sacrifice fly towards left-field.
In third and fourth innings, the batters seemed powerless as they played sloppy shots against the pointed pitches. During fourth inning, Felix Pie walked around stolen bases but at second base, Andino grounded out and Markakis struck-out. Similarly, White
Sox batters flied out to outfield positions without adding runs.
Adam Jones struck a solo homer (402 feet) towards centre-field to increase his team’s lead 4-0, at the bottom of fifth inning. White Sox scored their first run in sixth inning and reduced their lead 4-1. Paul Konerko was grounded out to short-stop position
but Juan Pierre completed a single run for White Sox.
During seventh inning, White Sox stepped on the gas to smash three runs and tied the game 4-4. Alex Rios scored one run when Brent Morel hit a double-run shot towards deep right-field. The second and third runs were taken by Gordon Beckham and Morel when
Pierre singled off left-field.
Orioles’ starter, Tommy Hunter pitched just over six innings and permitted four runs, seven hits and four earned runs with an ERA of 4.67. He was able to strike-out just two batters on his 89 pitches.
The game remained equal until the ninth inning so an extra inning was given to both sides. In the 10th inning, Reimold struck a two-run homer (428 feet) towards left-centre and Davis contributed the last run for Orioles to give them a 6-4 lead.
As a result, the Orioles stayed alive after winning the crucial game and reduced their lead 2-1 in the four-game series.
