Nolan Ryan expresses pleasure in seeing Texas Rangers move up to the top tier in Major League Baseball
Nolan Ryan may be the President and CEO of the Texas Rangers at the moment but he was once their top pitcher in the American League. The Hall of Fame Icon talked to the press from the Visiting team’s dugout for fifteen minutes at the Comerica Park in Detroit.
The living legend told the reporters on Tuesday, October 11, how much he enjoyed his team’s progression to the top of the American League and Major League Baseball.
The club is currently defending its American League Championship Series title against the Detroit Tigers and is leading the competition 2 – 1. Ryan spoke on his view of the club prior to the proceedings of Game 3. He was content with a team that reached
the World Series for the first time in history in 2010.
"It's a testament to the people we have in our organization and their focus on trying to be a winner. We're trying to put the best product on the field we possibly can. Due to that, the fans have been very supportive of us. Just a lot of positive things
have happened for the Rangers over the last couple of years."
With Cliff Lee in the pitching rotation, the Rangers won the Championship Series in 2010 against the New York Yankees to go on top. The club however did not do well in the World Series as the San Francisco Giants managed to end the campaign in five games,
beating the Texans comprehensively.
Ryan was not pleased by the way things concluded and he referred the outcome to the Six Flags amusement ride near the Rangers Ballpark in Arlington.
"I compare it to the Texas Giant, the roller coaster at Six Flags. My emotion level goes from top to bottom real quick at times. I'm thinking about going over there and riding it this winter so I can have that feeling."
Many fans are hoping the Rangers can go through to the World Series again, this year. They believe their team is stronger and capable of getting the job done this time. The only thing left to do is win the next two games in the Championship Series.
