What is the message of Rizal or Siginifance or Importance of Kabanata 5 of the book Noli Me Tangere?

well, K5 introduces to the reader Maria Clara, the most admired woman in the town, that even enemies can seat together just to see and be with Maria Clara. Remember, everyone---kastila, intsik, pilipino, atbp---was there admiring her. This K5 serves only as an introduction to the novel's "liwanag sa gabing madilim" which later will play an important part.

It somehow tells the reader that despite the feelings of gloom on Ibarra, there is light to look forward to but that he has yet to understand this. The "batang pransiskano" appears as a symbol for an unknown and unexpected event to happen in the future.

This chapter's significance is that it reveals just how Maria Clara is symbolically the "star" in the novel.  She is admired and loved even coveted by all especially the men.  It is also revealed in this chapter that Padre Salvi has a hidden desire for Maria Clara.
