Noliko Maaseik defeats CSKA by 3-2
Pool A match of the CEV Volleyball Champions League saw Noliko Maaseik compete with the CSKA recently.
The match between the two sides was played in the Bulgarian city of Sofia. Neither team was letting the other take control and took the match to five long and gruelling sets at the end of which the Noliko squad was able to end up on the winning side.
The recent win enabled the Noliko team to stretch its winning streak to show a total of three wins in the tournament so far. The victory that the guests were able to achieve over the home team was obtained at the following final set scores: 24-26, 25-16,
16-25, 25-20 and 15-12.
There were two players that were able to secure the title of best scorers in the match and both of them belonged to the Belgian side. These were Jelte Maan and Nathan Wounembaina, each of whom put up a total of 21 points for their side.
The first set of the match saw both the teams come out strong but it was Noliko who was able to take the lead first at 8-6. However, CSKA did not let their opponents go too far and managed to make the set reach a tie at 10-10.
Once they were able to tie the match, CSKA were able to push themselves forwards and secure the lead at 16-14 before the match again reached a tie at 22-22. Before long, the first set of the match was bagged by the Bulgarian squad at 26-24.
The loss of the first set of the game did not sit too well with the guests and they were able to challenge the Bulgarians significantly and secure themselves the second frame at 25-16 while the home team turned tables in the third set by securing it at 25-16.
The fourth set of the game saw Noliko take the lead at 13-10. Once they had the lead, Noliko was able to secure the fourth set and take the match to a decisive fifth one. The fifth set reached saw the two teams compete in a tough manner but the match finally
went to Noliko at 15-12.
