I am looking in to doing something like this in August, this school year or next summer. I want to volunteer and maybe teach/work/etc. abroad in a foreign country like in Africa or somewhere exotic that needs volunteers. I mainly want to do it to stand out on my college application but I also want to do it because I love helping out. I also heard of people building like shelters and other types of things in foreign country's. Anyway, my question is, does anyone know of a legit program that I can go through. Also after I did my volunteering I would want like a certificate or something to prove what I did, and yes I know it's not just about college and volunteering to look good on resumes. Back to my question though, I found a program called i-to-i (google it) it looked real nice but I do not know if they actually have like offices, or agencies around the USA, I live in NJ if that helps at all. I just need to find a way I can do this volunteer stuff legitimately.

  1. There are a lot of programs they are extremely expensive, but if you can afford it I would say go for it. I always wanted to study abroad in sr. high but it was too expensive. I will be studying abroad in university where there are a lot of grants and bursaries available to help me out.

  2. Check out programs at the link below .... there are lots of them on this site that combine study with volunteer work. I know people who have gone through i-to-i for volunteer work and they are a very reputable organization. I believe they are based in England.

I was a volunteer overseas and it was an amazing experience that changed my whole life and made me a better person. Believe me, you will never regret it!
