Non-Christians. Do you ever feel like you are too hard on Christians here sometimes?

I'm only speaking for myself, but I think I've had a tendency to make it too personal sometimes.

It's difficult not to get carried away with all of the emotion in R&S though.

Do you ever fall into this trap?

Well, I guess it's the beauty of free speech. Might as well enjoy it while we still have it.

  1. Yes. Yes I have. I do confess. But. Ya know, life goes on :)

  2. No. I try to keep my insults to a minimum.

  3. yeah they need to be good....we are harmless!!

  4. Apparently not so hard that I don't get a violation notice from overly sensitive Christians. It doesn't take much to raise their level of doubt and degree of insecurity about their faith, especially with "thinking" Christians.

Christians should practice their faith in private, instead of being so compelled to preach their nonsense to non-believers. It's very annoying to a non-believer to be told - repeatedly -  that they're going to suffer eternal torment for not buying into the "salvation" that their god-man offers. It's an old, tired, broken-record non-argument because there is no historical evidence for the existence of the character portrayed in the New Testament as the "saviour of mankind."

  5. I only give it to them (believers of any supernatural deity) on the chin when they insist on mindlessly spouting their rote dogma as indisputable fact without regard for reason or reality.

Freedom of speech is certainly the right of everyone. Even those who have been mercifully spared (by their so called creator) the ravages of intelligence, and original thought.

However, the right of free speech is also mine to vigorously refute such absurd assertions in the defense of common sense.

  6. I try hard not to be insulting, although i know just stating the facts to these people can be insulting to them.

I do get pissed and disappointed when they end up saying the same thing over and over again in every post....

"Christianity is not a religion, its a personal experience with Jesus, and since he came into my life I have been filled with the love of the holy spirit" and yada yada.... its a parrot talking, not a human being.  So along those lines, why would I get upset over insulting a parrot?  These people are so blind to anyone elses point of view, just as the atheists are.  I and the few pagans in here have a unique position to sit back, and watch both sides. We are theists, but admit that the Christians are .... brain washed, through and through.  I think most of us come here for a good laugh though.

    HAIL ODIN!

  7. I make up for insult answers with a thought out answer on a different question.

I don't really feel I'm too hard on them. I just equally reciprocate what is thrown at atheists.

  8. No. They are the ones trying to shove their god down everyone's throat.

  9. that's why I stay away from it!!!

There's no point.. you'll never convince people to change their mind when it comes to religion, politics, abortion, and sexuality!!!

And since I know everyone but me is wrong, I don't engage in debate :)

  10. Well, I used to feel guilty about beating up, metaphorically, on the mentally and intellectually challenged, but I look at it as helping them achieve the martydom they are so eagerly looking for.

Since they want to be 'Christians' but don't want to do any of the actual work on their own (love thy enemy, 7x 70 forgiveness, pray in solitude, etc etc) the only thing left for them is to be picked on and treated like the morons that they are. If you can't be made holy by doing good works, being prosecuted is the only route left. Never mind that people are picking on you because you are acting like an idiot and hypocrite, but its close enough.

  11. Ah, the Christian/Atheist love/hate relationship. Mostly hate.

  12. no considering all the c**p ive had to put up with from them since i was a kid.

  13. I'm sure I fall into that trap sometimes. But generally speaking I'm only hard on or sarcastic with rude Christians or uninformed Christians who insist that their interpretation of my religion is correct, etc.

Polite Christians I am absolutely polite with. After all, if I expect my beliefs to be respected it makes no sense not to respect someone else's.

  14. Well,I don't try to be insulting. I say what I feel. They should learn to accept others do not believe what they do.

  15. no because Christians are the majority. If anything they are too hard on us

  16. I follow the Teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ, not those of the church. And yes, I am very critical about the church acting like it's affiliated with Jesus while they constantly do things that can only be a part of satan's teachings. Of course I am not coming down on Christians, most were seeking God in ernest. But I am coming down on the church for lying to the world that the teachings the present are Jesus's, when they clearly are not. How could they be and the church still be responsible for so many crimes committed against humanity using His Good Name. Shame on the church.

  17. Christmas could be stressful and sad when your broke

  18. Were the Christians too hard on the "witches"?

Were the Christians too hard in the Crusades?

Were the Christians too hard in the Spanish Inquisition?

Are the Christians too hard on catholic altar-boys?

Are the Christians too hard on scientific discovery?

Are the Christians too hard in indoctrinating children with their lies?

It goes on, but that's as far as I am going to go.

  19. yes.

  20. If my pointing out quantum leaps of logic (leaving huge gaps) used by Christians can be considered being too hard on them... yes

  21. not really.

it goes both ways. constantly.  i don't see why atheists are called rude when it comes from the other side too.

  22. I wouldn't see it as being hard on them.  I respect that they have different beliefs than me...if they could just respect MY beliefs, I wouldn't have to defend my beliefs so strongly.
