I would say Miles Davis. I believe you can hear A LOT of Davis in many of today's most celebrated, envelope-pushing artists and bands. Especially B*tches Brew-era Davis.

    Edit; ya i do know that but he was mainly considered country and played country music and worship music at least where I'm from.
