  1. Are you looking for a free homeschool experience or online homeschool (which cost roughly $1400/year in tuition; not sure if this includes books)? A good one to look into is Keystone High School. Alger Learning Center & High School is in Washington State. There's also Ashworth University High School, Penn Foster High School, Stanford University High School, and American School of Correspondence.

I have pasted the links below. Click on them and request informational material to be sent to you so you can decide which one best fits your needs.

If you are looking for a "free education" (rather, a low cost method), look for a school supply store in your area that may have high school educational materials for sale. Good luck!!

  2. Homeschool is in your home. I'm afraid you'll have to be more specific. Do you need resources, an umbrella school, ...?

Technically my home is a non-religious home based private school, but we don't have a website.

Janis, not having a religion is a religion like not having food is a feast, a drought is a flood or not having money is wealth. Lack of belief cannot be a religion. It does not require faith. Public schools are secular in that they do not promote or teach a certain faith; they are not "teaching the religion of Humanism". It is not appropriate for you to answer this question with insults and rhetoric. She certainly did not ask you for your understanding of science or if it changes. Of course it changes! Science is about discovery. It is a process and a method, not a dogma. If science remained the same despite new discovery and insight we would call it religion.

  3. If your home is non-religious, then you can teach non-religiously.  (smile)

I've never met a person who was non-religious because not having a religion is a religion.   Public schools teach the religion of humanism.   If you want to teach with their curriculum, you can usually find used books in their trash cans.   Math, History, Language Arts are the same every year but to help spend our tax paid money, the public schools usually buy new curriculum after 5 years.   Science does change, but you can read the news to get those updates.

I  did  not send you any links because the page is not big enough for all the educational links on the internet.

  4. if you are looking for a curriculum that is non-religious - well, just pick any curriculum and don't teach anything in it that has to do with God or religion.

Although personally, I think you would be missing the best parts.   ;)

  5. i think she means criculum and i have not heard of any non "religous" ones

  6. You can find secular home school support groups.  Just search for secular home school groups in your area using Yahoo or google.  You will find some.  Here is one I found in Texas.

We have a group here in Kansas.

Our home is a good, non-religious home school.  I don't have a link for myself, though. Maybe you can see my profile.

Are you asking for a non-religious-based cirriculum?  I pick up a piece of a cirriculum now & then, at local state conventions, or through word of mouth via networking with various home schoolers.  But we've never used any of the cirriculum I've purchased, (yet).  My daughter's learning has occurred, organically, via the activities we do day to day.

I think it's best to join the state secular home school org in your state.  You'll get all the answers you need on their internet forum, at their events, etc.  Find info on your state here:

  8. I can't personally vouch for the schools, because we don't use a correspondence school (religious or otherwise).  All I can do is share with you some schools that I've heard are good.

K12 is a secular program that is free in many states as a virtual public school, however even if it is NOT offered as Public virtual school where you are, you *can* pay for it privately.  http://K12.com

Here is another accreditted school.  http://www.edanywhere.com

Here is a school that offers both secular and Christian programs, the school is run by christians, but they support the right of non-christians to pursue a home education, and therefore offer a secular program as well:   Sycamore Tree Academy 714-668-1343.

If you want to homeschool independently, a good source for textbooks is:

  9. K12's curriculum is secular:

We've used it for over 5 years and LOVE it.
