Non electronic birthday gifts?

i need a non electronic fun birthday gift for a forteen year old, it can be 500 dollars and under

and start her a charm bracelet. The cool thing is that you can add on to it after any achievement that she does until she is 18 years old. That is a good gift for the girly girls and the not so girly girls.

For a boy I would get him a bike, or a tent set so he could camp out in the yard with his friends. I know that you don't want an electric toy but what my husband wants to do with the girls is get them a car from the junk yard and restore it. You could get one that still  runs but needs entirior work or small mechanical work for around 500.00 Then that would give him a sense of accomplishment  that he can fix things as well as give the guys something to do together.
