Question:

Non-pasta meals that freeze well?

I start fall semester next week so my time during the week will be limited. I would like to get some ideas for meals I can make ahead of time and freeze. So far I have chicken enchiladas, meatloaf/meatballs, beef stew, lasagna, and tater-tot casserole. Do any of you have any other recipes for things that I can cook and freeze? I'd prefer things that don't contain pasta as we're not big pasta eaters. Thanks.

  1. Soup, non cream sauce, prefried food.

  2. Mcdonalds

  3. soup

  4. Chili ..... Spaghetti sauce (serve it over spaghetti SQUASH instead of pasta)  ...  quiche

  5. Go to the Food Network and type in Freezer Meals, there are over 40 pages of them, and you can pick and choose your favorites from there:  there are a lot with pasta, but on the other hand, there are a TON without pasta, and also freeze beautifully.....Good luck with your choices, and with your schooling.....At least you're smart enough to be thinking ahead, good for you, sensible planning these days is very savvy to do.......

Don't forget about things that you can pop into the crockpot before leaving for school, and will done by dinner time -- chili, taco soup, chicken au vin, chicken jerusalem, etc.

  7. Single-serve chicken pot pies make a huge mess but they're a nice treat a few weeks later when you pull one out of the freezer. Flautas, bean burritos, enchiladas and refried beans freeze and thaw nicely. How about making home-made pizzas (or just the crusts) and freezing them? Here are 2 links to Once A Month Cooking and Freezer Meals - maybe you can get some ideas. Good luck!
