  1. White vinegar mixed with water is good for cleaning glass, porcelain, counter tops and tile.  It's also pretty good for making your laundry smell fresh.

    Baking soda is good for a scrub (instead of comet) and for freshing up your carpet a bit...sprinkle it on the carpet let it sit for 15 min and vacuum.  

    Cornstarch is good on the carpet (used the same as baking soda).  

    Peroxide will help get stains out of clothing (like blood).  Saturate the stain and scrubbing it a little usually does the trick.  I also use it to clean my tooth brush.

    Lemon juice (1/2 c) is good to use in the laundry instead of bleach (and for a degreaser).  Smells better too!  You can also use lemon juice for a furniture polish (1 part juice to 2 parts olive oil).


  2. One of the best and cheapest is bicarb and white vinegar. You can use it as a base for most cleaning preparations. Modify by adding liquid soap and/or tea tree oil etc. Flat soda water with a bit of vinegar is great for cleaning windows.
