Nondescripts Cricket Club v Moors Sports Club – Premier Limited Over Tournament, 2012/13 (Group A) – Match Update – Nondescripts CC win by 7 wickets
An unbeaten century from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MF-Maharoof-c1944 propelled the Nondescripts Cricket Club to a 7-wicket victory over the Moors Sports Club, in their Group A match during the ongoing Premier Limited Over Tournament, played on December 11 at the Nondescripts Cricket
Club Ground in Colombo.
The Moors SC won the toss and decided to bat first, with the Nondescripts CC launching an attack led by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Chaminda-Wijayakumara-Vidanapathirana-c49563 (10-0-46-2), and skipper Jehan Mubarak (5-0-34-2).
The run out of opening batsman Shehan Jayasuriya (2) by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Nawalage-Harsha-Gihan-Cooray-c78937 (21) for
a 72-run partnership for the second wicket.
Ramith Rambukwella intervened to break it up with the dismissal of Cooray, but http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Samantha-Indika-de-Saram-c88226 (59) kept the team’s momentum going, and established an 87-run stand with Nikethana. Their combined efforts got the team total up to 162 from 75, after which de
Saram was sent packing by Ganegama.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Liyanabadlge-Janaka-Prabath-Gunaratne-c73032 (31) was the last batsman who managed to serve as an effective partner for Nikethana, and following the end of their 65-run fourth-wicket partnership, with Gunaratne’s departure (off Mubarak), it was a downhill slide for the Moors SC.
Skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Dunusinghe-Gedera-Ranil-Dhammika-c54796 (5*) and Vimukthi Perera (2*) at the
crease, the Moors SC posted a decent final total of 257.
The Nondescripts CC, however, faced no difficulties in chasing the target down, which they managed to do within 44 overs, at the expense of just 3 wickets.
The innings was driven almost entirely by Farveez Maharoof, who remained unbeaten on 101. Wicketkeeper and opening batsman Sandun Weerakkody (6) was dismissed early, by Shehan Jayasuriya, but fellow opener Niroshan Dickwella (48) teamed up with Maharoof
for an 87-run partnership for the second wicket.
Dickwella was run out in the 23rd over, followed by Mubarak’s (11) departure a few overs later, trapped lbw by Gunaratne. However, Maharoof remained unfazed, and his unbeaten 141-run partnership with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/CK-Kapugedera-c1269 (84*) got the Nondescripts
CC up to 258 with ease, with 7 wickets and 36 balls remaining.
