Last night we had a thunderstorm. This afternoon I realize that the phone hasn't rang all day and my husband said he had called. I looked and the caller ID shows he did, and the phone is blinking, but the answering machine doesn't turn on. There are 5 phones in my house and not one will ring. Should I just go and buy new phones, or is this something that I can fix myself?

  1. if you are sure they work, you can dial out, and you tried to call yourself from a cell phone or neighbor, then I woul suspect the carbon protectors. They may be breaking down under ring.

This is nothing you can fix, call your telco.

  2. What Bob said, or water in a local pedestal.  Call the phone company - it's their problem.
