Nonfic. About South American Indian Going to DC...?

Help! I started reading a book a few years ago & I forget the title and author!

It is a nonfiction book about a South American Indian writing a letter asking for help regarding the oil industry. The letter somehow ends up at an environmental organization in the U.S. One of the workers tracks the letter writer down, then helps him go to D.C. to speak in front of Congress.
