Nonito Donaire intensifies training for December fight

WBA interim super flyweight champion Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire is excited for his next fight and has intensified his preparation for his upcoming bantamweight title match on 4 December
against Ukrainian Wladimir Sidorenko in Anaheim.

The two-division champion, who came to fame when he knocked out previously unbeaten Vic Darchinyan in 2007, said that he is very eager to win his next fight because it will not only give
him his third title in three weight divisions, but it will lead to bigger fights next year.

“So now I’m knocking, I just need to get past Sidorenko to get to bigger fights and that’s with Fernando Montiel and even Wilfredo Jr. Vasquez Jr. and Juan Manuel Lopez,” said Donaire at
open workout media session. Donaire is scheduled to fight bantamweight titlist Montiel on February 2011.

The Ring Magazine’s number four pound-for-pound fighter is already preparing hard for his December bout and recently had a workout in California with compatriot and Ultimate Fighting Championship
contender Mark “The Filipino Wrecking Machine” Munoz.

The two Filipino-American fighters slugged it out and shared training techniques with one another that would boost their performance in their upcoming fights. Munoz was impressed with Donaire
and said that he learned a lot of striking techniques from him, which he can use in his upcoming fight against Aaron Simpson at the UFC 123 on 20 November in Michigan.

“It's gauging the distance. It’s all about getting the angles and Nonito is very good with that,” said Munoz, who is also looking to win to get bigger fights in the octagon. “With his stand
up, it’s unbelievable so anything I can draw from him in the stand up area of a fight.”

Donaire will started his training camp a bit late because his trainer, Robert Garcia, is still working with Antonio Margarito, who is scheduled to fight pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao
on 13 November at the Cowboys Stadium inTexas.

Despite the delay in his main preparation, Donaire remained confident that he will do good against Sidorenko, after training with Filipino assistant trainer Jonathan Penalosa starting last
week.

“I’ve been training myself, this is the start of my training camp really,” said Donaire. “But physically, I’m in better shape now, so everything he’ll teach me, I can absorb, and when Robert
Garcia comes, I can absorb everything he wants me to do.”
