I am online right now looking for tickets from the U.S. to Malaga, Spain. There are NO flights that are non-stop! Can anyone give me a reason why you cant fly nonstop to Malaga?

  1. you have to stop at madrid's airport first

  2. Because there is not sufficient passenger demand from any US city to warrant a non-stop flight to Malaga. As a result you will need to fly to London, Paris or Madrid and then connect to another flight to Malaga.

It is less expensive as it is more efficient to gather the passengers inn hubs and re-route them. This is often a topic of research in Operations Management.

  3. You usually need to go to Madrid then to Malaga, or most other cities for that matter.  Or do a stop over in another country like Holland with KLM, for example.

  4. I would imagine that the airport is not equipped for large carriers and it's not such a big airport to be able to cope with too much traffic. It's struggling with national flights as it is.
