Noppon Saengkham misses Snooker World Cup, Mohammad Shehab and Mohammad Al Joker grateful
A moment of relief for Emirati snooker duo, Mohammad Shehab and Mohammad Al Joker, as Thailand’s Noppon Saengkham will be missing Snooker World Cup this year. Saengkham is going to represent his country
in International Billiard and Snooker Federation World Under-21 Snooker Championship.
Saengkham and Thanawat Thirapongpaiboon triumphed over the Emirati pair 4-0, in the final of Emirates International Snooker Championship on Tuesday, June 28. The presence of 18-year-old Saengkham
in Thai squad for the Snooker World Cup could have brought more difficulties for the UAE duo.
However, Saengkham believes both UAE players can create a strong competition against any team in the world cup as they have the spark to unsettle their opponents. The youngster gave a tough time to
their Emirati opponents during the final.
While speaking to the local media, Seangkham said, "I think anybody can beat anybody at the World Cup because they play just one frame and the doubles. So maybe Shehab and Joker can beat any of the
top players there. They have to work hard and believe in themselves, and they should also want to win desperately."
Absence of Saengkham in the world cup might release the pressure off Shehab and Al Joker during their run in the world cup, starting in July. UAE is drawn in Group B against Australia, Malta, China
and Thailand A.
Team A of Thailand comprises of James Wattana and Dechawat Poomjaeng but they are not the ones Shahab and Al Joker would feel tough about. Their real challenge will be Neil Robertson of Australia
and Ding Junhui of China.
Shahab spoke to the local media, "The World Cup is going to be a lot tougher than this. So maybe we have to work on our safety game and make it more precise, because we are going to be playing against
really experienced professionals."
Snooker World Cup is going to be held in July at the World Trade Centre in Bangkok. The event is a part of Thai King’s 84th birthday celebrations and will attract players from all around
the world.
