Noppon Saengkham trounces Rupesh Shah in pre-quarters: 2012 ASCA International Snooker Championship
Round robin formatted stage of the 2012 ASCA International Snooker Championship finished featuring leading potters who qualified for the quarter-final stage of the tournament. The spectators present at the arena witnessed some thrilling snooker competitions
in the pre-quarters of the tournament. Thailand’s Noppon Saengkham performed brilliantly to oust Rupesh Shah by the score line of 4-3.
The 2012 ASCA International Snooker Championship has been a tremendous tournament featuring top potters from around the world. The snooker fans witnessed some outstanding matches in the initial stage of the tournament and the leading cuemen along with some
rookies made their way into the advance stages.
Thai potter will be placed among top guns of the event like Aditya Mehta, Laxman Rawat and Sourav Kothari. The international potter is definitely going to face some challenging conditions in the quarter-final stage.
Saengkham-Shah clash was the most tussling game of the pre-quarter-final phase as the battle ended in a decisive frame. The opening round of the match was tough as both cuemen tried their best to get an early lead. However, Saengkham was able to prevail
by the score line of 63-60 to grab a 1-0 lead.
The Thai cueist clinched the second frame firing two superb half-century knocks of 59 and 54 to win the frame by the scores 113-8 and extend his lead to 2-0. Shah bounced back into the game in the third and fourth frame and pulled level at 2-2. The next
two sets were equally shared to take the game scores to 3-3.
The match up was dragged into a decider frame which was another tussling set but the experience of Saengkham overpowered Shah once again and he triumphed in the match by the score line of 4-3.
