Norbert Haug believes new upgrades will give better results during race in Nürburgring – Formula 1
Mercedes motorsport boss Norbert Haug has said that he believes the new upgrades which have been delivered in the MGP-W02 car for the German Grand Prix will give them better results during Sunday’s race.
Both of the drivers Nico Rosberg and Michael Schumacher finished their morning Friday Practice session at the seventh and tenth place respectively on July 22, 2011 in Nürburgring.
Mercedes GP are hopeful that their car will make improvements in terms of its run in the second half of the 2011 Formula 1 season.
The team delivered new parts in the previous Silverstone race. The team got better results from the previous race weekend, as the driver Nico Rosberg completed the British Grand Prix at the sixth place following his disappointing Canadian and European Grands
Prix.
However, Haug is sure that the team will take a step forward in order to challenge the 2011 Formula 1 championship in Nürburgring this weekend.
Talking to the reporters, Haug said, “This is a completely different layout, with lots of parts, and lots of different capabilities and demands. Here we have some consolidation of what we introduced at Silverstone – with the exhaust and other small bits
and pieces with the rear wing.”
He went on to mention, “If you build up a team, and we are in the second year, you need time to learn to bring people together, to form a stable platform and all that. We were struggling in the first two races, but the third race looked quite favourable
as we saw when we were leading.”
Before the start of the German Grand Prix, both of them were very excited for the race weekend, as they will be racing on their home track.
Mercedes GP are at the fourth place in the 2011 Formula 1 constructors’ championship with 68 points. The team wants to retain their current position ahead of the Renault team in the championship until the end of the season.
Let’s see how both of the Mercedes GP drivers fare in the remainder of the German Grand Prix weekend.
