Fortuna Dusseldorf manager has urged the Veltins-Arena outfit not to part ways with the legendary striker and rules out F95 move for the former Real Madrid star
The Dusseldorf manager reckons that Raul can still win games for the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Royal-95-c40387 Blues and should be retained by the club.
The former Real Madrid man will run out of his contract at the end of this season and is expected to return to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Raul-c30652 to reassess his decision.
On the other hand, the F95 tactician believes that the Royal Blues should try their best to keep the striker at Veltins-Arena before a lucrative offer from some other club deprive them of an immense talent.
When asked about Dusseldorf’s interest in the striker, Meier admired of Raul’s affection for his club but ruled out any chance of tying knots with the Spanish international.
While talking to Goal.com, the 53-year-old further stated:
"I've read them. And it's also true: Raul lives in Dusseldorf, and I think he's really comfortable here. He enjoys the freedom, going out in the street without constantly having to constantly sign autographs. He has already visited
us before and worn a Fortuna scarf. He even knows a few Fortuna songs."
The manager then turned his attention to his side’s upcoming DFB Pokal game against the reigning German champions Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday, December 20. Meier believes that the F95 will have to be on their toes from the word
go as the Borussians will not be easy opponents.
The Dusseldorf boss also expressed his grief at Mario Gotze’s absence from the Dortmund line-up for the game on Tuesday. He opined that it would have been better to face the Black Yellows with the youngster in their squad.
"First of all, Mario Gotze is a great footballer. I'm not one to cry 'hurrah!' when such a great player is hurt. For us, the DFB Pokal is a bonus game and I would look forward even more to facing Borussia with their best eleven."
