Norichika Aoki in good form after changing regimen – MLB News
The Milwaukee Brewers' outfielder Norichika Aoki on Thursday, June 5, said he feels his consistency is good after he cut back on his daily workout regimen. The outfielder had considerable difficulty in the offence for a long time until the team manager, Ron Roenicke, asked for some readjustments.
The 30-year-old player has, in recent days, shown remarkable improvement since cutting back on the tiring regime he had previously adopted. So sharply had his batting average declined that a complete overhaul had seemed inevitable.
The hitter had .269 average on June 22, with having a record of 0-for-4. For the Japanese outfielder, that remained the lowest ever since the rookie had come to the Milwaukee Brewers.
However, evident are the changes that have come since his new regimen. The player now has a 12-game streak, something that was expected of him owing to the talent he possesses. The ups and downs, so it seems, are a thing of the past now.
"I feel like I can be more consistently good, as opposed to having my ups and downs before," Aoki said. "When I went through my good streaks, it didn't really last long. I would just go back down again. That was the result of working out and practicing too hard."
The improvement is simply incredible. Aoki has a batting average of .395 now in the five games during the streak earlier mentioned. He has six RBIs to his credit that serves as testament to the capability he as a player holds.
All that would not be possible without the adjustments Aoki made as he had failed to remain consistent.
"Those are the little adjustments that players make and figure out what works best," Roenicke said. "I think if he was coming in that hour early, and he was hitting his whatever -- 200-300 balls in the cage every day.”
Milwaukee Brewers, which sit fourth in the Division table, will certainly be looking for someone in the offence that adds strength to the team, helping them to capitalise on every opportunity that comes their way. How long does this consistency lasts is something that remains to be seen.
