Can I use a normal tank that you would buy at a pet store (Pet CO, PetSmart) for a saltwater tank?

  1. yes, but buying kits can be cheaper, and cannot. also for a saltwater tank look on http://craigslist.com for local listings of established tanks with everything you need, its much cheaper than any pet store!

  3. Yes you may, either an aquarium glass or arcrylic tanks. The difference between glass and arcrylic is that glass is easier to break and much more heavier, while arcrylic is much more stronger but easier to scratch. Make sure that the tank is big enough for the fish or fishes that you are planning on getting. Saltwater fishes are more fragile than freshwater and they need swimming space and their own territorial areas.

    all tanks was actually made for fishes, however, people use some tanks for the pupose of having turtles, rats, mice, etc. for them, which is fine, however, it's best to buy a tank that has never been used when shopping.

    So the answer is yes, there is no special tanks made for saltwater.
