Norman Gifford appointed as Worcestershire's spin-bowling coach - Cricket News Update
Former England spin bowler, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Norman-Gifford-c79924 is all set to make a comeback to the New Road after 30 years, but this time to join the coaching set-up of the Worcestershire County Cricket Club (CCC).
The 71-year-old former left-arm orthodox bowler, who played 15 Tests and two One Day Internationals for England during an international career spanning nine years between 1964 and 1973, has been appointed as the spin bowling coach
of the county on a part time basis.
Worcestershire management’s decision to snap up Gifford is part of a reshuffle of the club’s coaching staff following an unimpressive run last season, which saw them finishing at the bottom of the LV= County Championship Division

join the Royals as the overseas player for the 2012 season.
Gifford is one of the legends of New Road. He captained the county for nine seasons during his time here as player. He led the Royals to the 1974 County Championship title. He claimed 2068 first class wickets from 710 matches at an
astonishing average of 13.
After retiring from professional cricket, the spin bowler moved to Sussex to start his coaching career. He then went to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Durham-c782 to take the charge of the county’s first team as coach, a role he kept for five years. He then returned
back to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sussex-c852 to take up a coaching role at Ardingly College.
