Normandy Black causes an upset in the 480m Grade A2 race at Hall Green
P A Sallis seems to have been training his hounds very well, as another one of his dog, Normandy Black, managed to win the 480 metres long, Grade A2 race at Hall Green, on Wednesday, January 11, 2012. The cash prize for
winning the event was £122.
Despite not being the favourite, Normandy Black ran pretty well and ended up on top, completing the race in 29.20 seconds. He had a starting price of 11 to 4 and broke in from trap number five.
The winning dog is the son of Hondo Black out of Droopys Lena, and was born in September, 2009.
The closest contender for victory was Inky Squiggle, who completed the race in 29.47 seconds, 0.27 adrift of the winner.
Inky Squiggle, trained by S M Buckland, went into the race from trap number four, with a starting price of 3 to 1. She is the daughter of Westmead Hawk out of Tipsy Tyrone, and was born in June, 2008.
The third place was taken by Head Iton Barker, who completed the race in 29.57 seconds. He had a starting price of 4 to 1, and popped out into the race from trap number six.
Head Iton Barker is trained by A T Bodell, and he is the son of Hondo Black out of Caressing. He was the oldest hound to participate in this race, as he was born in March, 2007.
The race favourite, Mohican Kewell finished a disappointing fourth place. He failed to challenge the front runners, and left his trainer, N J McDonald dejected.
Mohican Kewell had a starting price of 5 to 2, and went into the race from trap number two. He managed to complete the distance in 29.71 seconds, which was more than half a second slower than the triumphant hound.
Mohican Kewell was born in September 2009, to Droopys Kewell and Madabout Blacky.
Florida Barbie finished in fifth. She had a starting price of 8 to 1, and popped out of trap number one. She completed the total distance in 29.82 seconds. Trained by J R Hall, she is the daughter of Elite State out of Florida Mandy. The fifth placed
b***h was born in February 2008.
The last place was taken by Lowerback Daisy, who completed the race in 29.88 seconds. Her starting price was 5 to 1, and she went in from trap number three.
Lowerback Daisy is the daughter of Mineola Farloe out of Outer Layer, and was born in August 2008.
Overall, the race was a good one for the spectators and trainer P A Sallis, who has been working extremely hard to put his hounds on top.
