North Carolina Tar Heel stars Harrison Barnes, John Henson and Kendall Marshall to enter the NBA draft
After a successful run with the North Carolina Tar Heels, Harrison Barnes, John Henson and Kendall Marshall have decided to take their talents to the NBA.
In an announcement made by North Carolina on Thursday, the three stars will be entering the NBA draft.
Coach Roy Williams was very happy at the prospect of his ‘boys’ playing in the NBA.
"It's a great day for three youngsters who are taking another step toward their ultimate goal of playing professional basketball, on a very small stage; it's a sad day for me because I won't get to coach them again. All Tar Heel
fans will miss them greatly, as well."
The triple threat of Marshall, Barnes and Henson was very successful with the Tar Heels. In their two years together with North Carolina, they only fell one game short from making their presence felt in the final four.
North Carolina recruited Henson back in 2010, Barnes came in a year later and Marshall joined the Tar Heels midway during that season.
Nobody can doubt Harrison Barnes scoring ability as he is leading the Tar Heels by averaging 17 points per game. His compatriot, John Henson is averaging about 14 points, 10 rebounds and 3 blocks and along with these impressive
stats, Henson was also a two-time ACC defensive player of the year.
Reflecting back on his journey with the Tar Heels, Henson said;
"I wish we'd have been able to bring our fans a national championship, but it wasn't meant to be, I am proud of what we accomplished, especially the last two years."
As for Kendal Marshall, nobody understood the Tar Heel offense better than him. In his tenure, he majestically orchestrated the North Carolina fast pace offence and as a testament to his vision and ball movement, Marshal was named
the best point guard in college earlier on Thursday. Marshall also holds the record for most assists during a single-season and his departure will certainly be the biggest loss for the Tar Heels.
For Marshall though, playing in NBA had been a lifelong dream and the time to make a move to the bigger stage has finally arrived.
There is no confirmation as of yet, on whether the three respective players will be hiring an agent or not but one thing`s for sure they will be entering the NBA Draft.
