North Carolina Tar Heels to kick off Spring training at the weekend – Volleyball news
The University of North Carolina women’s volleyball team is scheduled to start its spring training this Saturday, March 24.
The Tar Heels will kick off the training by hosting a full day practice session at the Carmichael Arena, North Carolina. For this purpose, two separate courts will be set up and UNC will joined by five other teams from different schools.
The Spring Exhibition Day of UNC will be attended by James Madison, UNC Wilmington, Duke, Georgia, and Charlotte.
The volleyball action will start with match between hosts and team from James Madison College at 9 a.m. (local time). The Tar Heels will play at the court 1, while the court 2 will be captured by teams from Duke and Georgia. The home squad will appear in
a total of four matches, while each match will features two frames of 25 points.
In the second match on court 1, teams from James Madison and Charlotte will come into stride. Likewise, Georgia and UNC Wilmington will play at the court 2.
On the whole, a total of 12 matches will be played at the Spring Exhibition of North Carolina University. The friendly matches will help the participants to sharpen their skills before the start of regular season. Tar Heel will have certain advantage in
the tournament as they will be playing at familiar courts. After playing the exhibition matches, the Tar Heels will end the day with an Alumni match.
The Spring Training Day will be followed by the 2011-2012 Spring Awards Banquet on Sunday. The members of North Carolina University Volleyball Programme will gather at the Loudermilk Centre, in order to celebrate the success in the previous season. The players
will be awarded with different accolades on account of their overall performance. Senior speeches will also be featured at the Banquet.
Alumni guest speaker, Donna Gutterman, will address the audience and a previous season highlight video will also be shown to the attendees.
The players of North Carolina women’s volleyball team are pretty much excited about the Alumni Weekend as they will receive recognition for their work.
