North Carolina?

Question

Can you surf on the beaches of Norht Carolina? And what kind of sea shells are there?

not to great of surf and theres some pretty cool oyster shells and clams and things like that on the beach, lots and lots of shark teeth also.  Back to surfing though Id suggest going for it on a good day but on a bad day stay on the beach find some shells and sharks teeth and just relax not worth paddlin out there for nothing.good luck

its one of the best breaks on the east coast.  try googling NC surfing. check out magicseaweed.com...... haha can you surf nc I dunno, can you?  I can and when noel blows of shore hallelujah the first noel. Im supper hyped!!!

No, the waves are out a little further. You could try one of those sand boards though, just hike up a big sand dune and drop in.

North Carolina gets some of the best surf on the East Coast, or at least the Outer Banks does.  In the summer the water is warm and usually pretty clear and waves will rely on tropical activity for decent size.  Winter is cold and relies on swell from Nor'easters.    Either way it is rare to find crowds since you are dealing with miles and miles of beaches.  

Not much in the shell department though.  Southern NC may get some collectible shells but I don't go down that far to surf.

You can surf but look out for the sharks.  There have been a few fatal attacks in the last few years on the Outer Banks.  I don't recall seeing too many shells.  (I live in Elizabeth City, NC) and have only been to the beach a few times.
