Are you ready for this huge storm that's suppose to hit us?

I'm in Wellington, it's been pretty cold, wet and windy the last few days.

  1. Kia ora Wabby.

Hey, you should be in Dunedin. Only 40mm of rain so far for the month.

Only 2 days of cold northwesterlies so far all winter, and perhaps about 6 days of southerlies - only one day have they been strong.

We've had one 5 degree frost though, and about 10 frosts not quite as cold as that. Some of the days have been up to 19 degrees.

No snow yet (but then, I'm at sealevel).

Have I made you homesick yet??

  2. Could be really exciting I think lol. It's just really windy in Auckland at the moment. I think the storm is meant to come around midnight.

  3. It's pretty huge. Apparently it's the biggest storm to hit NZ in the last decade. I'm in Auckland and it's just horrible.

We were driving across the harbour bridge today and it was so windy that our car was shaking and we had to drive at about 10km/h when you are meant to do 100km/h. It was so scary. And I live in this big old house and the wind is rattling the windows nonstop and the whole upstairs is shaking. There is thunder and lightning too.

60 000 Aucklanders have already had their power cut off. Luckily I'm not one of them =]

My friend was meant to be flying down to Wellington today but all flights at Auckland airport have been cancelled for at least 24 hours, so she couldn't go. She's really worried that when she does manage to get down to Wellington in the next 2 days, that she won't be able to get back, because the storm is going to be worse in Wellington when it hits, than it was in Auckland anyway.

  4. Hey Wabby, as you know i am in Te Aroha in the Waikato and YES we are having THAT storm right now...its horrible too...even Wellington doesnt have anything on these winds...omg i think my roof is going to blow off...boohoo!  this really sucks big time!

    *HUG*

    :)

EDIT: I can believe that, they don't call it windy wellington for nothing...i have even landed at the airport in that wind...scary!

  5. I'm in Auckland and for the 'biggest storm in a decade' it wasn't THAT bad.. I mean it wasn't little but I expected much worse! 2 of our trees got snapped but I did expect worse for the worst storm in a decade.

  6. It kinda sux 4 those that are in the far north because their practically blocked in with all the trees falling down around them. Just hope they are prepared because its gonna take a few days 4 the roads 2 by cleared.
