North West Under-19s v Gauteng Under-19s - CSA Under-19 Competition – Day 2 – Live Score and Update
North West Under-19s 90 & 110 v Gauteng Under-19s 182 & 19/1 (5.2 ov) - Gauteng Under-19s won by 9 wickets
Another match in the CSA Under-19 Competition that had a conclusive end was between North West Under-19s and Gauteng Under-19s, where the latter secured a nine-wicket win on the second day of the three-day match that was played at Olympia Park, Rustenberg.
It was an intense first day, where the bowlers pulverised the batsmen, especially Gauteng’s U Kruger and North West’s JK Soutter were phenomenal as they took six and five wickets to wreak havoc on their opponents.
The pitch was by no means conducive for batting, as the bowlers tasted success even on average deliveries. On the other hand, the batsmen had to halt themselves from the temptation of going after the deliveries.
A graveyard for batsmen and a paradise for bowlers, the match was all set for an emphatic end on the second day.
North West Under-19s closed the opening day with 20 on the board and two batsmen already back in the pavilion.
After a despicable performance in the first innings, where they scored only 90 runs, it was imperative for the Norths to give a big performance in the second innings.
However, Friday did not seem to have brought them any luck as they lost their first wicket of the day after reaching only 40 runs. RA Viljoen was the culprit this time, as he perished with 26 runs to his name.
Skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Jai-Prakash-Yadav-c65330 Snyman was then joined by PDF Knoetze as the batsmen tried to salvage some pride, however, this pair could only take the score to 68 before meeting its end on the wicket of PDF Knoetze, who was taken out by Tlhokwe for 10.
In the next over, the skipper was also sent back to the pavilion, leaving North West Under-19s under pressure once again.
Friday was S http://www.senore.com/Cricket/McIntyre-c75495’s day as he finished with a four-wicket haul, playing a crucial role in restricting the opposition on 110 runs.
Gauteng Under-19s needed just 19 runs to win, which they reached in 5.2 overs for the loss of one wicket.
