North West v Easterns – CSA Provincial One-Day Competition, 2012/13 – Match Update
A 4-wicket haul from Garnett Kruger, followed by an unbeaten half-century from Hendrik http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Graham-Robert-Cowdrey-c60631 der Dussen, allowed North West to claim a 3-wicket win over the Easterns in their rain-affected clash during the ongoing CSA Provincial One-Day Competition, at the
Senwes Park in Potchefstroom on November 4.
North West won the toss and elected to field first, after which the team’s bowlers, led by Kruger (9-3-13-4), with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Dwaine-Pretorius-c54825 (10-2-37-2) chipping in as a supporting act, proceeded to limit the Easterns to a low total.
Opener http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shaun-Walter-Liebisch-c89865 (1), and Lesiba Ngoepe (0), reducing the Easterns to 26 for 4 by the 11th
over.
Wicketkeeper batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Adrian-Roger-Kirshaw-Pierson-c42135 it out at the crease long enough for a 21-run contribution, but he was ultimately trapped lbw by Pretorius. Grant Thomson top-scored for the team with 69, and joined forces with Jurie Snyman (19) for
a 52-run partnership for the 6th wicket.
After Snyman was sent packing via run out, Thomson powered on, teaming up with Kyle Marshall (24) for a 46-run 7th wicket stand. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Marshall-c74817 eventually became Pretorius’ second victim of the day, and Ulricht van Duyker (13) was the last batsman who
managed to reach double figures.
Brett Pelser took care of van Duyker, his successor http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Johannes-Diseko-c67203, leaving the Easterns all out at 178 by the 48th over.
The match was interrupted by a bout of rain, after which the revised target for the North West, according to D/L calculations, was 169 runs from 47 overs. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Brett-Jonathan-Pelser-c48417 (0) were all unremarkable, and dismissed
early in the innings – however, opener van der Dussen anchored the innings with a solid unbeaten 88.
He was aided in the chase mainly by Kyllin Vardhan (22) and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Yusuf-Bulbulia-c98355 (26), and despite the Easterns’ bowlers’ best attempts, North West ultimately managed to reach 170 with 3 wickets and 4 balls remaining.
