However, the final day began with Easterns resuming their second innings from an overnight tally of 108 for five.
It was imperative for the batting side to post a total big enough to give their bowlers a serious chance of winning the game.
SW Liebisch and GM Thomson had great responsibility on their shoulders as they needed to forge a big partnership in order to stop the bowlers from wreaking havoc.
The duo took the score to 134, before Thomson became the first batsman of the day to lose his wicket. He was removed by Klein after posting 14 runs.
With 142 on the board, Easterns suffered a big blow when MR Sekhoto retired hurt with just two runs to his name.
Liebisch and IC Hlengani then smashed the side to 168, before the fielding side made another breakthrough when Kruger grabbed the prized wicket of Liebisch for 49.
North West bowlers tightened the screws around their opposition as Easterns faltered on an unimpressive tally of 183.
From North West, GJP Kruger, D Klein and K Chetty shared two wickets each as they pulverised the batting side.
Needing just 68 to win, there was no way in the world that the North were going to let the game slip away.
Openers HE http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Graham-Robert-Cowdrey-c60631 der Dussen and D Klein staged a partnership of 17 runs before August made inroads by shattering Klein’s stumps for five.
Then with 34 runs on the scoreboard, the bowler struck again by dismissing der Dussen for 25. However, with a score so small, the bowlers really never had a chance of securing a miraculous victory.
With TA Bula and KM Vardhan both on 18, North reached the required target in 14.5 overs.
