North West v Gauteng – CSA Provincial One-Day Competition, 2012/13 – Match Update

Gauteng won the toss and chose to bat first, but centurion http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Dale-Deeb-c1303 (10-1-34-2), and Johannes
Diseko (10-0-32-2).
Opener http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Devon-Conway-c53929 (2) fell prey to Pretorius. Coming in at number 4, Shane Burger contributed an unbeaten 100, but he received no support from the
rest of the batting order.
Deeb took both http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Richard-das-Neves-c84952 (6) were both undone by Diseko, and by the
end of 50 overs, with Burger and Sizwe Masondo (7*) at the crease, the team posted a final total of 219 at the expense of 8 wickets.
Gauteng’s http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Eddie-Leie-c55031 (10-0-40-4) made a valiant attempt to defend his team’s total and keep the opposition’s batsmen in check – however, North West breezed through the chase courtesy Bula, who anchored the team’s innings with a vital unbeaten 89. He was
aided in his efforts by Hendrik http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Graham-Robert-Cowdrey-c60631 der Dussen (45), with whom he set up a massive opening partnership of 103 runs.
Following van der Dussen’s dismissal, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Brett-Jonathan-Pelser-c48417 were both sent packing on duck, and Andries Huisamen only managed 12 (in addition to joining Bula for a 25-run partnership for the fourth wicket) before he was caught out by Masondo
off Leie.
However, Dwaine Pretorius chipped in with an unbeaten 52, and joined Bula for a 90*-run partnership which got their team safely over the finishing line. Their combined efforts enabled North West to reach 220 comfortably, with 6 wickets still in hand, and
29 balls remaining.
