On the first day of the CSA Provincial Three-Day Competition between North West and Gauteng, the latter trail by 225 with eight wickets in hand in their first innings, at Senwes Park, Potchefstroom.
North West chose to bat first after winning the toss, aiming to put enough runs on the board to secure an intimidating lead in the three-day match.

The duo hammered the side to 69 before the demise of Bula, who was dismissed by Hume after scoring 42 off 44.

This was the time when the bowling side had made a comeback and had managed to exert considerable pressure on their opponents.
The partnership between Vardhan and D Pretorius turned the tide as the two batsmen smashed the bowlers all around the park to take the score to 140 before Vardhan became the next casualty with 45 to his name.
While D Pretorius and DR Deeb scored 37 runs each, it was the staggering knock by D Klein that stole the show as he smashed 64 off 74 to play a key role in helping his side post 296 before the end of the innings.
Gauteng then scored 71 for the loss of two wickets in 16 overs before the day ended.
