  1. Sea level would rise about 200 feet, which means that millions of square miles of coastal land around the world would disappear.  This would only be a small percentage of the land on the earth, but a large percentage of the people on earth live in these coastal areas, and would have to move inland.  Most of the biggest cities of the world would be wiped out, including New York City, Montreal, London, Rome, Tokyo, Bombay and many more.

On the other hand, new land would be exposed in Canada, Alaska, Greenland, Siberia and Antarctica.  This might actually cancel out the land lost to the sea.  However, this land would not be desirable to live on since it would be mostly bare cold rock.

  2. If all the ice melted from the North pole, it would have a small effect on sea level, since the ice is already floating on the ocean.  The level might rise about 4 cm.

If the ice on Antarctica all melted, the sea would rise about 70 meters!  That would cover almost all of Florida, for example.

Add in the ice on Greenland, and you get another 7 meters.

  3. that would cause the ocean's to rise over 200 feet so start your calculations from 200 feet above current ocean levels
