Northampton Saints crush Saracens by 30-8 in Aviva Premiership clash – Rugby News
Northampton beat the Saints by a huge margin of 30-8 in the ongoing Aviva Premiership clash played on November 26, at Franklin’s Garden. It was a much anticipated match but ended one sided as Saracens failed to deliver. Saracens did a very little to impress
the spectators and ultimately cut a sorry figure against the rampant Saints. They struggled with their rusty defence in the first half while their unconvincing forward pack cost them a biting defeat in the second half. They conceded 27 points before the break
and scored only five after the interval.
During the match, Lee Dickson, the scrumhalf of Northampton Saints, put his side to an early lead with the help of a well executed try in the eighth minute. The follow up opportunity was converted successfully by fly-half Ryan Lamb and the lead was expanded
to 7-0.
Saracens fly-half, Owen Farrell reduced the margin to 7-3 on a penalty goal but this was the only moment to cheer for his team during first half. All the things went against them throughout the match as Saints picked their game up and boosted their lead
to 27-3 before the interval.
After the resumption of game into the second half, both teams displayed equally well flawless defending techniques. However, the sides failed to provide further entertainment to the audience with Saints scoring just a three pointer and Saracens a try.
