Northamptonshire v Worcestershire - Friends Life T20 – Midlands/Wales/West Group - Worcestershire win by 14 runs
Worcestershire 142/5 (20/20 ov) v Northamptonshire 128/5 (20.0/20 ov) - Worcestershire won by 14 runs
On Saturday, June 23, in the ongoing Friends Life T20 tournament in the English county, Worcestershire after bolstering an innings of 142 runs in 20 overs while batting first, won the match against Northamptonshire as they successfully restricted the opposition on a total of 128 runs to win the match at County Ground, Northampton.
After losing the toss, Northamptonshire were made to field and their bowlers did not give a commendable show as after grabbing a few early wickets, they were neutralized in the middle by PJ Hughes (52) and JG Cameron (57), as the two batsmen tilted the game back on their side after losing the openers quite cheaply.
Had http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Northamptonshire-c824 averted this partnership, they would have surely won the match after incinerating the batting side on a small total.
Nevertheless, coming out to bat their way to victory, Northamptonshire openers KJ Coetzer and WPUJC Vaas hammered a partnership of 17 runs, which was better than http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Worcestershire-c866’s opening stand that yielded only 14 runs.
DS Lucas from Worcestershire, then struck to grab his side the first wicket, as he hit timber to bowl-out Vaas, who walked back to the pavilion after scoring an innings of nine runs.
Then with 28 runs on the board, skipper AG Wakely, was caught by Kerveze, off the bowling of GM Andrew after scoring just a run.
CL White then joined http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Thomas-George-Burrows-c93472heir side an imminent victory.
However, Worcestershire weren’t going to make things any easier for their opponents and broke the potentially lethal batting collaboration by grabbing the wicket of Coetzer, who fell after scoring an innings of 33 runs, leaving his side standing on a total of 60 runs.
Then after the addition of 11 runs, the side suffered the loss of another wicket when RA White hit the showers after playing a meagre knock of four runs.
While CL White looked in impeccable form as he hammered an unbeaten knock of 62 runs off 42 deliveries, it was still not enough to earn his side a win in the match as the team could muster only 128 runs for the loss of five wickets in 20 overs.
