Northeast Delta Dental International to feature a strong field
The Northeast Delta Dental International is going to start from July 20-22, at Beaver Meadow Golf Course, Concord, New Hampshire, with a strong 144-player field featuring a number of battle-hardened contenders from across the globe.
The Northeast Delta Dental International is played on the Symetra Tour, and has been staging tough battles among players seeking to advance to the LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) Tour.
Meghan Flanagan, Tour Media Coordinator for Symetra Tour, said that she is pretty hopeful about the success of the Tour and the Northeast Delta Dental New Hampshire International tournament. She said that the tournament provides a solid platform for players
looking to make a name for themselves at a bigger stage — the LPGA Tour.
Speaking of how female golfers can make the most of this tournament, Flanagan said that the tournament has helped plenty of players groom themselves and boost their game. She went on to say that since rookies cannot make it to the LPGA Tour without first
going through some tough times, Symetra Tour takes pride in helping contenders move ahead in women’s golf.
“This is where the ladies develop their skills and hopefully go on to get full status on the LPGA Tour. For some, it takes a year or two. For others, it may take as long as five years. But this weekend in Concord, we’re showcasing the future stars of the
LPGA,” Flanagan said.
Players will vie for a $100,000 purse, and those finishing in the top 10 will make it to the LPGA Tour for the 2013 season.
Canadian Jessica Shepley won the last edition of the tournament and gained plenty of appreciation for that. Shepley made it to the LPGA Tour after she racked up her first title at Beaver Meadow Golf Course.
The Canadian star has been a prominent figure on the Futures Tour since turning pro in 2005.
Flanagan said that just like Jessica Shepley proved her worth last year, players can do to do the same this week at Beaver Meadow Golf Course.
“Last year’s champion in New Hampshire, Jessica Shepley (of Oakville, Ontario) earned her way to the LPGA Tour and she’s had six starts so far this year,” she said.
