  1. Spoons, any BIG minnow looking lures - jointed work best...and rubber worms work well but they tend to get shredded a bit.

Shiners or suckers work well too...

Top water when it's calm - a small mouse lure

It might be time for the biggest ugliest lure in your box to be tried....

Remember they are attracted to movement....

Daredevils, Johnsons spoons (gold or silver), big Mepps spinners

    They like BIG..

  2. Ok, I live in Minnesota. Good overall lures I recommend for shallow-water northern-

    1. Big buck-tail spinners. I personally prefer the Blue fox musky buck, but any one will do.

    2. Any Rapala.

    3. Spinnerbaits. Awesome lures at least were I fish. Size and color is your choice, although I like black. Awesome tip, put GULP! as a trailer. Improves your catches by a big shot

    4. topwaters-

    5. big plastic swimbaits. Will take anything that swims.

Uhh yeah the guy who said for using sunfish as bait(yeah, I have pondered about it too, how easy it would be to catch fish with it,) buts its illegal in MN. You can't go wrong with a sucker-minnow.

  3. anything that u would use for bass like worms or crankbaits

    banjo minnow

  4. Pike really are not in shallow water but you never know?  Anyway you could do one of two things.

    1. Use a spoon.  Pike will go after them most of the time and if get one by them they will strike.  Pike are very territorial fish they will bite whatever is near them.

    2. Catch a panfish or some small fish.  Once you have them put them on your hook and cast them out there.  Reel it in slowly. I'm almost positive you will get a pike if you use this method.

    luck fishing

  5. pike are always in the shallows but during the summer the biggest you will catch is a 2lb all the big cows are sittin in the deep during the summer heat i have like with black and gold shallow jerk baits  as the water cools use bigge baits if your able to go to go it to the deeper water throw 4 or 5in suckers or shad thats dead and have sit on the bottom i have read that you an just take a jig head and and a shad and hook it in the back (live) and verticaly jig it

  6. omg all the people who have answerd this question really havent got a clue! apart from joe b. U can use anything thats the beauty of pike fishing.. IT just depends whats working on the day, how the weather conditions are, and where the fish are..

I would advise you to take a varitey of diffrent lures and spoons..

The pike could be up in the water so its worth a go at using some surface lures, i have caught many pike using surface lures in shallow water.. and if u do catch one using that method its great!

How ever dont stay in the same spot. this is a mistake a lot of people make.. have5 or 6 casts in one spot then move on to another bit of the lake.. keep on moving..

one final point is try any weedy areas or places with over hanging trees etc.

  7. well first u would want to find if there are pike there i have never cought a single pike where thay dont live(thay tend to live in water where thay can move to deeper waters when thay get lager but thay are found in all types water and also hunt in vegitation) as for bait i have cought pike on evrything form crank bait to ruber worms but for shallow waters i would sugest a medeum sized spoon somthing vary flashy i find thay like hot pink lures but i have got best ones (not as many but the bigest and best fights) with a blue and silver spoon it has bumps on the colerd side that flash light out in all directions its like saying LOOK IM FOOD to a hungry pike also frog paterns are grate and for big ones fish paters (shood look like a local bait fish)

    hope this was helpfull
