Northern Districts in a good position against Otago on day-one: Plunket Shield

Although the start wasn’t an ideal one for the home team, they managed to hold things together as the game progressed. Northern Districts captain http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Craig-Cumming-c1289 was the first man to be dismissed after scoring just 12 runs. He looked good in the middle, but
wasn’t able to make most of the good batting conditions.

out of trouble.
The pair put together a solid 77-run partnership for the third wicket and took their team’s total over 100 runs. Just when things started to look good for the team, Neil threw his wicket away. He batted sensibly for his 31 runs, but would have liked to make
the most of the start he got to his innings.

Wicketkeeper batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Derek-de-Boorder-c1359 gave some good support to his team’s opening batsman and the pair put together 93 runs for the fifth wicket. Redmond’s fine knock of 122 runs finally came to an end in the last session of the first day’s play. The stylish
opener struck 18 fours in his brilliant ton.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Neil-Wagner-c2096 wasn’t able to last long at the crease, as he was out after adding just four runs to the total. However, de Boorder batted superbly and was unbeaten on 54 when the umpires called off the day's play. He will look to extend the first innings total
of his team to over 350 runs on day-two.
