A rigorous team effort from the Northern Districts Knights’ bowling attack saw the team clinching a 5-run win over the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Canterbury-c775 Wizards in their list A match during the ongoing HRV Cup, played today on November 30 at Seddon Park in Hamilton.
Having put the Knights to bat first after winning the toss, Canterbury proceeded to launch a bowling attack which shared the spoils between them, with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ryan-McCone-c87321 all picking up one wicket each.
The Knights got off to a stable start, courtesy openers http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Steven-Croft-c2583 (29) kept the team’s innings moving forward, establishing a 28-run stand with Devcich, which got the total up to 125.
Devcich was trapped lbw by Hira in the 15th over, and followed back to the pavilion by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Corey-Anderson-c1282 (35*), however, took it from there, and went on to set up a 47-run partnership with Croft.
The final over saw both Croft and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/BJ-Watling-c1172 (5) dismissed – the former by Nannes, and the latter via run out – and the Knights eventually posted a final total of 186 by the end of 20 overs, at the expense of 5 wickets.
Northern Districts then went on to defend their totally successfully, with Styris, Devcich, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bradley-Scott-c1189 all picking up one scalp each, and narrowly cutting the Wizards off 5 runs short of the target.
Canterbury’s batsmen registered dismal performances overall, with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Knights-c805 secured a 5-run victory, continuing their winning streak in the ongoing tournament.
