The match had kicked off with the Stags winning the toss and electing to field first on day one. Carl Cachopa (9-4-15-3) led the team’s bowling attack, and was aided in his efforts by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Tarun-Nethula-c2647 (7-3-26-2), Ben Wheeler (16-3-48-2), and Adam Milne (17.3-2-41-2).
Together, they managed to bowl the Knights out for a dismal first innings total.
Only five of the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Corey-Anderson-c1282 (23), Joseph
Yovich (13), and Brent Arnel (12*). The remaining batsmen, however, were unable to apply themselves at the crease for long, and day one saw the Knights all out at 183.
The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Graeme-Aldridge-c1502, and the latter caught
out by Anderson off Jimmy Baker. By stumps on day one, the Stags were at 67 for 2.
Day 2 saw http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kieran-Noema-Barnett-c71440 (44) joined Raval for a 51-run stand for the 4th
wicket. Raval was soon dislodged by Ish Sodhi (28-4-84-2), and the skipper followed soon afterwards, trapped lbw by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Brent-John-Arnel-c48390.
However, wicketkeeper batsman Ben Smith (64*) kept the team’s momentum going, despite the sudden fall of wickets, and teamed up with Will Young (36) for a 50-run partnership for the 6th wicket. Once Young was dismissed by Sodhi, Nethula stepped
up to the crease, and made a vital 39-run contribution, in addition to joining Smith for a 65-run partnership for the 7th wicket.
