Northern Passion and Black Bird Rock to represent trainer Mark Casse in the Bison City Stakes at Woodbine
Trainer Mark Casse will be running two of his star fillies, Northern Passion and Black Bird Rock in the $250,000 Bison City Stakes at Woodbine, which is due to take place on 1st July, 2012, over a distance of 1 1/16 miles.
Northern Passion, daughter of First Samurai, out of mare A Touch of Glory, has proved that she is the one to watch out for, since she has delivered terrific performances in her last two starts.
Owned by John C. Oxley, the filly claimed a victory in the Fury Stakes that took place over the Woodbine’s synthetic surface on 29th April, 2012, over a distance of seven furlongs.
Riding in the capable hands of rider, L. Contreras, the runner claimed the victory over her stable-mate Dene Court, who was ridden by Patrick Husbands, while the third place was secured by Casa Loma, who was teamed with rider, S. Bahen.
The three-year-old filly finished as a runner-up in the Woodbine Oaks on 3rd
June, 2012, which covered a distance of 1 1/8 miles, and fell behind the M. Frostad trained, Irish Mission.
Black Bird Rock has been showing steady progress in her recent races, and chances are that she will take it up a notch and ace this event.
The daughter of Flower Alley, foaled by mare Black Rock Road, finished ninth in her Maiden Special Weight race at Gulfstream Park, which covered a distance of 1 1/16 miles on 3rd March, 2012.
However, the three-year-old filly toned up a great deal in her second attempt at the maiden race on 28th April, 2012, where she claimed the victory over the similar distance.
Paired with rider, Patrick Husbands, the runner defeated, Pearl Bay, who finished in second place and Hilda's Legacy, who landed in third place.
Both these runners are the new emerging stars, and they will give it their all to land a solid finish in this event.
Northern Passion will be cutting back in distance, since her last race covered 1 1/8 miles, and the Bison City Stakes will be run over a distance of 1 1/16 miles.
