Northern Territory likely to win Visit attheraces.com/ascot Handicap (Turf)
Northern Territory is likely to prevail in the Visit attheraces.com/ascot Handicap (Turf) at Lingfield in England on Tuesday, June 12, 2012. The winner of the class-5 event will be awarded a cash prize of £2,386.
The going will be heavy in the 1 mile 1 furlong race, which is scheduled to start at 14:45 GMT, and a total of 12 runners have been attracted towards it. Their names are as follows: Emperor Vespasian, Northern Territory, Titus Bolt, April Ciel, Equity
Card, Jay Bee Blue, Tweet Lady, Art News, Falcon´s Reign, Musically, Darnathean and Fine Finale.
Earlier, a total of 14 runners had lined up for action in the race, but their names have been withdrawn because of the conditions.
Looking at the experience and recent performances of Northern Territory, it appears that he has the best chances of winning the race. He has got a very good stamina and the conditions will be ideal for him today. He will definitely attract a lot of
bets from the punters.
The three-year-old colt has entered seven events until now, winning one of them and finishing fifth up on a couple of times. Other than that, his performances have not been much impressive at this level.
The Jim Boyle’s trained runner finished on top of the table in his penultimate race, which shows that he is carrying a decent momentum right now. However, he was unable to repeat a similar show last time around, finishing eighth overall.
Things might prove to be a lot easier for Northern Territory, as most of his opponents are struggling for form. He will be partnered by seasoned rider, Jamie Spencer, who has won numerous races at this level and has a very good strike rate. He will
be full of confidence today, as his performances in recent times have been good.
On the other hand, Emperor Vespasian might manage to spring up a surprise in the race, as he is also carrying decent momentum at the moment. He finished runner up in his previous race, which shows the kind of form he is carrying at the moment.
However, the three-year-old gelding is not known to be a consistent performer, thus the punters will not be interested in risking many bets on him.
