Northerns v North West – CSA Provincial One-Day Competition – Match Update
The list A match between the Northerns and North West during the ongoing CSA Provincial One-Day Competition turned out to be a shockingly low-scoring affair, with North West successfully chasing a meagre target of 76, to secure a 9-wicket victory over the
Northerns at the LC de Villiers Oval in Pretoria today on November 18.
The match commenced with the Northerns winning the toss and choosing to bat first. However, North West’s three-man bowling attack, comprising http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Dwaine-Pretorius-c54825 (3.3-0-16-1), managed to restrict their
opponents, all out, to a paltry final total of 75.
The Northerns put forth an alarmingly disappointing batting display, with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shershan-Naidoo-c89998 (7), and skipper Cobus
Pienaar (9) were all sent back to the pavilion early during the innings, by Kruger.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Christiaan-Frederick-Schoeman-c50678 (3) and Graeme van Buuren (5) both fell prey to Klein, and von Berg, who came in at number 7, was unable to find any consistent batsmen to partner with. Klein continued to scythe through the batting order, and swept Heinrich Klaasen (0),
Eden Links (7), and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Samuel-Fese-Mofokeng-c88365 (2*) remaining the lone batsman who managed to remain not out, the Northerns collapsed,
all out, at a paltry 75.
Predictably, the chase did not take North West long to complete – a task they managed to finish within 14 overs.
Opener Hendrik http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Thandisizwe-Andrew-Bula-c93105 (39*) took the responsibility for the remainder of the chase upon himself,
and steered the team through. He was aided in his efforts by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Yusuf-Bulbulia-c98355 (15*), and their unbeaten 38-run partnership for the second wicket got the North West comfortably up to 76, with 9 wickets still in hand, and a total of 216 deliveries remaining.
