  1. Is it Norton Security Scan? If so, then don't worry it bundle with many software packages (especially software from Google.com) It's harmless.

  2. The Norton program was probably there as a 30 day trial on a new computer.

If you have McAfee, it is good.

To remove Norton use the removal tool available from www.symantec.com

This is done when upgrading Norton for a new Norton product, but it will remove Norton if you have McAfee.

  3. Get rid of it.its not good to have to anti Vs anyways they clash and start problems

  4. Both of those anti virus programs suck so do yourself a favor and get rid of both of them.

  5. A lot of these antivirus scan your computer and just say you have a virus so you will buy the product. if your up to date mcafee says its not there then it isn't there goto add/remove programs and get rid of it. i've never heard of norton installing itself without a users permission.

  6. Unless your computer came with Norton software or you entered the Norton website, this is most likely a scam (disguised as Norton antivirus).

Believe it or not a good number of viruses/parasites claim to be anti-virus programs because they are least likely to be identified as such by the user.

There is an easy way to find out. Does your "Norton" software allow you to scan AND eliminate viruses or will it scan, tell you that you have viruses, and ask you to pay the full version for cleanup. If it asks you to buy the full version in order to eliminate the virus/s then this is a virus and you should eliminate this program immediately.
